Michael says: “Arthur Harari, screenwriter for ANATOMY OF A FALL, has directed a film adapted from a graphic novel written by he and his brother Lucas, aptly called THE UNKNOWN. A science fiction tale only as a premise, the film explores a mysterious series of body swaps in a highly realistic approach. The less said about the details of the film, the better.
“The film explores the themes of identity and self, asking how much of our physicality makes us who we are. Léa Seydoux, in the second starring role of three at TIFF and co-star Neils Schneider are both superb, playing their characters, as well as their characters inhabited by other people. So many good things to say about this film, from the editing and cinematography, to the score and direction. As both Harari and Seydoux said before the film, just let yourself go and take the journey. It’s quite a ride. 4 1/2 cats
