Ellen says: “For some reason I feel guilty about seeing MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. On some level it seems mainstream and I haven’t seen anyone else post about it. But, I will announce here that I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The plot revolves around a single Greek woman who lives with her parents and works in the family restaurant. She branches out to take some college courses and meets and falls in love with a non-Greek (a big crime!). There was nothing especially unique about the story or plot line but the laughs just kept coming and it was fun to just sit back and enjoy myself with little effort.” 4 cats
Jane says: “I totally agree with Ellen about this film. I felt guilty enjoying it, because it was so lightweight and predictable. But the scriptwriter knew the territory well and ran with it. It was smart of the producers to allow her to take on the lead role as she did in the play. I liked the casting and felt Lainie Kazan (always a pleasure to watch) was perfect as her mom. It was great seeing a full theatre for a sweet little film such as this – drawing in a mainstream crowd, racking up the numbers.”
Nathaniel T. says: “I know that everyone is sick of this film by now (I sure am), but I gotta put my two cents in. Overall, a slight farce that manages to be entertaining, with a wonderful supporting performance from Andrea Martin. Never grabbed me, but made me chuckle.” 2 cats
