Michael says: “After a slight slip with KEY LARGO, we’re back in business. Set in Martinque during WWII, Harry Morgan is an Amiercan ex-pat who reluctantly transports a leader in the French Resistance and his wife to the island, all while romancing Marie ‘Slim’ Browning, a mysterious woman trying to get home to the states who takes up lounge singing when pick-pocketing doesn’t yield the results she is looking for. This one has all the elements of a great classic, action, drama, romance, comedy, and that sizzling Bogie and Bacall chemistry that can’t be beat. And Bacall is at the top of her game again, as ‘Slim,’ especially when she delivers that classic line, ‘You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and… blow.’ This Ernest Hemingway classic was adapted by Jules Furthman and William Faulkner, and they must have had a grand old time! 4 ½ cats
