Michael says: “Apparently based on an uber-popular YA novel, the film is clumsy, beautiful, trite, and beautiful all at the same time. While it follows a formula that screams teen fiction there are some moments that work so perfectly, that it’s nearly heartbreaking. And you know I love a good story about grief which is what this teen romance is really about. I do wonder about the production of this film quite a bit though, because it’s very hard to find the same Josephine Decker who directed MADELINE’S MADELINE in this film. I feel like if Decker had been allowed to let loose, she could have really made this film into something special, but for whatever reason, she took the easier route. 3 cats“
