Hilary says: “OCEAN’S ELEVEN is a fun diversion. Clearly, Stephen Soderburgh can make great films in his sleep — this one looks great, and the cast includes several actors who’ve appeared in his films previously and had a hell of a fun time making this one. As other reviews have stated, solid performances from Clooney and Pitt, but it is Elliot Gould and Carl Reiner who steal the show.”

Howard says: “This is a fun little romp of a movie that has no deep meaning and no aspirations of high-brow. This is pure escapism. The actors attack their roles with joyous vigor and Stephen Soderbergh obviously wanted to do something light after his Oscar ‘sweep’ last year. Elliott Gould is a true stand-out as the Las Vegas vet who finances everything. Although not a Chlotrudis-type film, I think it’s eligible under the current rules. Still, I don’t think I’ll be nominating for anything.” 3 cats
