Beth Cu says: ” Italian film, focused on two young women, oldtime friends, reunited for a climb up Mt Etna. the volcano is very much the 3rd character – lots of atmospheric, longshot & and stock footage of it throughout. Still am not sure why – does it symbolize someone’s emotions? State of female identity? The stress between the two friends? This was a recurring problem for me – what is this film supposed to be about? The lead was too much of a cipher, didn’t know who she was/what her baggage was before their dynamic started changing. It was a visually compelling film nevertheless, with really evocative sound design and score. 3 cats.”
