Chris says: “Enjoyable if average overview of the ’60s/’70s Canadian singer with an ultra-distinctive voice. Nearing 80, Lightfoot now looks like a shell of his former self, but he remains lucid and approachable about his career (and can still hit most of those notes). The doc excels in detailing his worth as a songwriter and a folk-rock guitarist, although the vintage performance footage, while often fascinating, seems a little excessive in relation to how deep it delves into his personal life (adequately, but not as thoroughly as last year’s Linda Rondstadt film.) Still, if you’re a fan of the title song, ‘Sundown’ or ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’, you’ll find plenty to admire here. 3 cats
