Barbara says: “What I found interesting about this documentary was that it was so neutral politically. I thought it would be a big anti-Castro film focusing on the perils faced by the Cuban refugees who try to escape by homemade rafts. Instead it dwells on the Cuban’s personalities as they prepare the rafts, embark on the journey and get to the US after a stay in Guantanemo. I expected to have some sympathy for their plight but the film didn’t stir up any raging passions.
“I am still trying to figure out how the filmmaker managed to be there when the rafts were at sea and when they were taken to Guantanemo. Thismade it seem more stage set than true documentary. 2.5 cats”
