Michael says: “Rosanna Arquette interviews international actresses about growing older in the business and trying to have it all: career, love, family. At first I thought there would be too much about Arquette, and although the film is as much about her search… her journey as an actress in the entertainment industry as it was about actresses in general, she is wise enough to give her ‘co-stars’ as much if not more screentime as herself. Interesting comparisons from actresses continuing to work in film as they grow older, like Frances McDormand, Vanessa Redgrave, Charlotte Rampling and Teri Garr to those who removed themselves from the picture like Jane Fonda and Debra Winger. Some great stories are included here, especially Fonda’s riveting story about the 8 times out of 49 films that she reached the pinnacle of what she sought from acting, and a wonderful insight from Alfre Woodard about coming to the realization that growing older also means understanding that you want to start talking to people who ‘speak the same language’ as you. Also nice to see some less active (not necessarily by their own choice) women in the biz like Martha Plimpton and Adrienne Shelley. Also nice to see (and sad as well) Katrin Cartlidge included. Notable lack of Canadian actresses(!) I want Alfre Woodard to come to Chlotrudis! 3 ½ cats
