Diane says: “I think I made a mistake in choosing to see TOW instead of THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER. While it has some impressive casting (Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, et al.), TOW has an uneven screenplay and some leaden acting.
“Byrne plays an alcoholic mother who lives in her car in Seattle. When her car goes missing, this based-on-a-true-story follows her frustrations, disasters, and triumphs. I think the flaws may stem from hewing too closely to the real story, and giving equal emphasis to parts of the story that don’t serve the arc.
“My favorite aspect was the minor characters introduced in the first half hour. A bunch of them were so striking–their lines, their looks- that I was eager to see how they would become a larger part of the story. But they didn’t. Too bad!
