Tom says: “Matt Stone and Trey Parker may have the subtlety of a sledgehammer, and their humor is usually pretty lowbrow but goddamnit if they don’t always make me wet my pants with laughter.

“Some of you may have grown up with Gerry Anderson’s Supermarionation programs. Personally, I thought they sucked ass, but I was aware of them. This movie is obviously heavily influenced by his works ‘Thunderbirds’ and ‘Supercar.’ It’s also influenced by a hatred towards current Hollywood action films. If you ever wanted to see a puppet movie with an explosion every 30
seconds, then you can die content after seeing this.

“I’ve always felt the ‘South Park’s’ co-creator’s strong point is their ability to create formulaic, hook-laden songs with utterly ridiculous lyrics. TEAM AMERICA is full of them. One song has the chorus ‘America: FUCK YEAH!,’ another the line ‘I miss you like Michael Bay missed the point with Pearl Harbor. I miss you almost as much as Pearl Harbor sucked.’ Kim Jong Il sings that he’s so lonely. They also reprise the Montage song from an earlier episode of ‘South Park.’

“TEAM AMERICA is awful. But it’s awful because the mindless action films it parodies are awful. It makes fun of the way America sees itself in the world today. It reminds us that Hollywood actors opinions are no more valuable than anyone else’s. It has graphic puppet sex. It has cute little kittens. It’s the funniest movie I’ve seen since A MIGHTY WIND.

America. FUCK YEAH!”
