Lorraine says: “SUCK
IT UP BUTTERCUP premiered at the Bare Bones International Film and
Music Festival.

“I was lucky enough to have two cast members be a part of a staged
reading of my screenplay ‘Attic Ashes’.

“SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP is beautifully written, beautifully shot. The
directing is very sure handed. The story is strong — a girl addicted
to drugs and the effect on her family. Her life is spinning out of
control. One parent in denial, the other powerless without the other
parent being on board. A grandparent who is less and less able to
function on his own puts more pressure on the family.

“There are well -handled moments of comedy to give us release from the
drama.

“The cast is incredibly strong. At Bare Bones the cast won the Best
Ensemble Award and it is well deserved.

“The journey of the characters — and all the main characters are on a
journey, which is part of what makes the film strong and part of what I
love — is not traditional Hollywood. This film is raw, powerful. A
story told by filmmakers who have been on the front lines of loss and
addiction, all the damage that flows outward from someone struggling
with addiction.

“The end is perfect — I don’t want to give it away — but it is a
beautiful moment, and just that, a moment. Something else would not
ring true, given the story.

“If you have the chance to see it, I strong recommend it. 5 cats
