Michael says: “Moving, optimistic portrait of a young Irish man turning after 18 after living his childhood in foster care after being separated from his younger brother and his social worker. Danny falls into a bit of trouble after hardships from his youth, and is left to face real life at age 18. There he struggles to find a job, reconcile his mother’s absence and the continued separation from his younger brother. But through it all, he receives helped from his spunky Spanish girlfriend, his former social worker, and a homeless woman he befriends on the street.
“Director Kim Bartley, known for her award-winning documentary THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED, does a terrific job with her first narrative feature. Lead actor, Lewis Brophy excels as the young lead, pushing forward, making mistakes, but holding on to the promise of a more positive future. 4 1/2 cats
