| Kevin says: “Deeply layered film that reminded me of WITH A FRIEND LIKE HARRY…. A young man played by Jean-Pierre Lorit is hired by a filthy rich tycoon (Bernard Giraudeau) to be his “taster.” Basically, he tastes the man’s food and gets paid $50,000 for it. However, a stange and deeply complicated relationship develops between the two men, with disastrous consequences (if that isn’t vaguely forboding enough lol). I liked this film quite a bit. It’s beautifully filmed and very well acted by Giraudeau (he was in François Ozon’s WATER DROPS ON BURNING ROCKS) and Lorit. Also, Florence Thomassin turns in a top-notch perf. as Lorit’s girlfriend. The narrative is told in a circular fashion that plays out very smoothly. Somehow, I felt a little distanced emotionally from it though.” 4 cats |
| Laura says: “Cowriter/director Bernard Rapp tells his tale in flashbacks from a present day investigation into an unknown crime. While there have been many films which investigate the transference of personality, there have been fewer on the subjugation of it.
