Michael says: “YOSSI AND JAGGER is a film with a deceptively simple story that comments on several issues in just over an hour. Simply put, this film deals with the love story between two male soldiers in the Israeli Defense Force stationed in a remote military post in Lebanon. Yossi, the commanding officer of the outpost, and Jagger (nicknamed thus because of his rock-star appeal to men and women alike) who is Yossi’s second-in-command, steal away precious moments of physical intimacy in the snow-covered landscape, unbeknownst to the rest of the soldiers. When the troop must prepare for a nighttime ambush on advancing enemies, Yossi concentrates on plans, and discipline in order to keep his soldiers alive, while Jagger just wants Yossi to tell him that he loves him.

“Accomplished Israeli director Eytan Fox delivers a powerful message stressing that love should not be hidden in a film that begins with sweet, romantic bliss, and slowly morphs into the horrible realities of war, and even more broadly, life itself for two men who love one another in a culture that still isn’t ready to accept that openly. The story, as mentioned before, is a simple one, but Fox presents it with such honest beauty, and horror, that YOSSI AND JAGGER deserves a wide audience.” 4.5 cats
