Thom says: “This is one of those big-budget extravaganza & fantasy creation that is beautifully done with lovely images of creatures from lost worlds. The time is the 1500s and our hero Kane has to fight pure evil to overcome his owned soul by the devil. Solomon Kane was created by Robert E. Howard, the homebound sword & sorcery master who was also responsible for Conan the Barbarian, Red Sonja, & Kull the Conqueror (did anyone see the biopic on Howard with the most excellent Vincent D’Onofrio, called THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD?) I would guess the film will be a huge financial success, but only time will tell (& to be honest I’m not good at predicting blockbusters, and the vision is quite dark for the multiplexes). 4 1/2 cats ”
