Chris says: “Your mileage will vary depending on what you think of therapy sessions turned into autobiographical feature films. Actor/writer Shia LeBeouf does a damning but compelling impersonation of his own father, while Noah Jupe, who plays a version of him at age 12, is pretty good. Lucas Hedges (who doesn’t really resemble him or Jupe) plays him at 22 and his part feels mostly unnecessary. Alma Har’el’s direction is by far the best thing about this. 3 cats”
Diane says: “I’m with you, Chris, on the 3 cats. And also feeling that Lucas Hedges’ character was unconnected to the rest of the film. I do applaud Shia LeBoeuf’s perf as his father. Hard to make that figure sympathetic, and he did.
