Thom says: “Here’s another free ticket I nabbed to the annual San Francisco LGBT Film Festival. This was yet again a documentary entry and once more it shows that as I’m getting older it’s just as difficult being objective as ever it was as certain leanings I have get in the way of completely understanding. What we have here is a clear-headed, well-made documentary that should have had greater resonance with me. In Palm Springs a singular community of long-term HIV/AIDS survivors has congregated to spend the rest of their lives in the barren, desert conclave. While most of the talking heads are interesting, thoughtful, and honest about themselves I found it impossible to understand their commitment to Palm Springs. I find that landscape the most ugly on the entire planet; moreover, since I start to suffer with any degree over 70, if I had the unfortunate experience of living there I would never step outside. I admired the director for choosing some contributors that were much worse off than the majority of the participants. 3 cats
