Michael says: “The first film we caught at the High Falls Film Festival was a British entry, the recipient of The Sundance Film Maker’s Award for Best International Script for Sara Sugarman’s VERY ANNIE-MARY. Rachel Griffiths and Jonathan Pryce star as a musical daughter-father pair still struggling to deal with the death of their mother-wife 15 years ago as well as their relationship. Annie Mary (Griffiths) was a one-time vocal prodigy who cannot seem to sing anymore. Her eccentricities as well as those of the rest of the colorful characters in the offbeat village in New South Wales make VERY ANNIE-MARY a delightful first film, and a warm opener for us at the Festival.” 3 cats
