Kyle says: “A terrible title that will be shunned by all except artsy foreign film junkies, THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY’S TEARS is a deconstruction of the giallo genre. The word refers to the color yellow, which apparently was typical of the paperbacks; but the films, most notably directed by Mario Bava and Dario Argento among others, refers to a crime or mystery
involving fantasy, violence, suspense, murder, and gore. Many readers will know immediately whether they want to see this from the information that it contains extreme violence involving women, including knives against nipples, throats, and into brains, with various wounds closely resembling vaginas. A mysterious principal character named Laura changes outfits, but notably wears bright red leather and stilettos.
”Telephoning his wife to notify her of his return from a business trip, Dan (Klaus Tange) arrives home to his fancy Art Nouveaux apartment to find his wife missing. He finally enlists the services of a detective, which only complicates matters and deepens the mystery. Dan is convinced that someone in his apartment building has kidnaped his wife, but gradually learns that there are walls within walls and there is another building inside the known building. This is an intriguing experiment in sounds and images that may prove rewarding to those with the patience to stay with the fragmented narrative. 3 cats

Julie says: “I’m liking this film more and more and will upgrade to a 3.5 cats despite its flaws. The acting was quite good, I loved the visuals, the music, and the mystery was fun to unravel. See it and we can privately discuss!
“I think this piece of an interview with one of the film makers is a perfect way to describe this film.
“Forzani: We write it with different layers so that each time you watch the movie you will notice new things. So the first time you watch THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY’S TEARS it might be more like a sensual experience and then the second time you will discover links and after that, you will find some new keys. Some people accept the game and some people won’t. We really wanted to construct a labyrinth and didn’t want to show you the exit.
“You really need to watch twice (fast forwarding things such as gruesome parts second time around) if you want to get all the details (as best as you possibly can). It was amazing production/cinematic-wise and fun. I loved the architecture and design of the building and paintings as well as production/set design for the various apartments.
“With all of the dream/imagination/fantasy states, it gets confusing, if you’re trying to figure who dunit. But it was a fun watch. 3.5 cats”
