Jess H says: “Big favorite of this year’s Popcorn List and Jacy Mairs’ directorial debut, TRASH BABY is going onto Prime on 10/30, and then onto Tubi on 11/27!! Genuinely one of my favorite things I’ve watched this year. I saw it through The Lone Screen earlier this summer and it RULES, by the way. Not sure any of you get those ads on instagram like I do, but 15 bucks for a movie theater you can smoke weed in (aka your living room), sign me up!!!
“There’s a letterboxd review for this movie that says ‘any movie is a horror movie depending on what baggage you bring to the table.’ so needless to say, I was SAT. And I was blown away! Genuinely one of my favorite things I’ve watched this year. It’s actually kind of incredible what they were able to do with such a small budget. One of the most realistic and relatable portrayals of what it’s like to grow up lower class for a teenage girl who wants to be anything but a teenage girl. GUMMO meets EIGHTH GRADE, kinda. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll yell at the screen. It is probably not for everyone, but it was very for me.
“Jacy Mairs is one to keep an eye on, I think.”
