Val says: “‘Jeff said ‘This just wasn’t ready for TIFF,’ and I think I couldn’t say it better. A trio of musicians recon with their deadly choices as they spend a (excruciatingly long) few hours in a hotel room preparing for their big break. This one wasn’t for me. Setting aside the anachronistic set mistakes and the actors blinking when they are supposed to be dead, the script/libretto was a mess and the film was an hour too long. Lead actors Francis C. Edemobi, Ezekiel Ajeigbe, Raél Ba, Pedro Louis, and Joe Maye deliver compelling performances and great vocals, but they couldn’t breathe life into this dead cat. Having said all that – I hope to see more from the director, there were some choices that I appreciated and the shots were very well done given the tiny space and the lackluster script. And the actors have huge careers ahead of them! Dead cat”
