For its annual year-end Top Film category, the CHLOTRUDIS SOCIETY FOR INDEPENDENT FILM (CSIF) this year has compiled a list of the top 50 Dystopian/Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic films among its membership. To create this list, members were asked to come up with their personal favorite film films defined as a film genre defined as follows: Dystopian: an imagined, deeply flawed society characterized by suffering, opperssion, dehumanization, and often totalitarian control, serving as a dark warning against present-day trends, with common themes including corporate, technological, or government control and environmental collapse. Apocalyptic: relating to or involving predictions about future disasters and the destruction of the world or society. Post-apocalyptic: stories, settings, or conditions after a catastrophic event (like a plague, war, or environmental collapse) has destroyed civilization, focusing on survivors rebuilding society, scavenging, or struggling with a drastically changed world.
