He produced, long ago, a handsome coffee table book featuring stark, black and white portraits of derelict military bases, abandoned subdivisions, crumbling warehouses, and seedy motels set amid the general desolation of the Mojave Desert. Suffering from creator’s block, he has returned to the desert to try to recapture his original inspiration. He inadvertently and naively runs into some bad people, and the encounter leads to catastrophe. In its pacing and story, A DESERT bears more than a passing resemblance to PSYCHO.
