Adam says: “Well-directed and gorgeously animated coming-of-age film, with memorable music. However, while I would normally love a low-stakes, slice-of-life hangout movie, this one goes out of its way to set up so much potential juicy conflict, and then just avoids nearly all of it by having every single authority figure be unbelievably understanding of all transgressions at all times.
“The synesthesia element that gives the films its title is also, while beautifully realized, a surprisingly minor element of the narrative. The result is a pleasant, likable film that at times borders on dull. 3 cats”
Michael says: “Truly sweet anime film about a trio of young people at odds with who they are supposed to be and form a band after finding each other at the White Cat Hall used bookstore. Central character, Totsuko, has a unique ability to see people’s colors, allowing for some lovely visual sequences.
