Michael says: “Like DAUGHTERS IN THE DUST, when a fil is described as a tone poem, it’s probably not going to be my cup of tea. That said, there is a lot I can appreciate about such films, and ALL DIRT ROADS TASTE OF SALT is no exception. With gorgeous imagery around earth, air, fire and water, and strong performances with little dialogue, especially between the two adult sisters whose story we are seeing glimpses of throughout their lives, it’s certainly a 90-minute visual feast. Certainly a worthwhile film, especially if you are prone to enjoy lovely visuals, impressionistic imagery, and poetry. 3 cats

Diane says: “Hands for fishing, hands for braiding, hand for holding… This time-skipping story of a woman’s life, love, and loss is very tactile, with minimal dialogue and lots of frog, insect, and rain sounds. In fact, when dialogue began to intrude too much toward the end–and an orchestral score–I was resentful. Noms for sound, cinematography, and perhaps for the woman’s mother. 4 cats“
