It is with tremendous sadness that we must announce that long-time Chlotrudis member Bob Gladstein died suddenly on Friday July 16. Bob has been an active member of Chlotrudis for nearly 20 years, and his knowledge, insight, and enthusiasm for film was such a welcome addition to the group. In the past several years he had become more active, regularly attending our weekly film discussion groups, rarely missing an awards ceremony, submitting film reviews, and helping out with committees.
Bob was kind-hearted and gentle, but with lots of strong opinions when it came to film. He Studied Film Studies at University of Iowa, and recently told us about a term paper he wrote about gender in THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH that would have made a fascinating read, I am sure. He enjoyed talking about his time working at the National Amusements Allston Cinema, usually disparagingly, but also lovingly, which is sadly no longer with us either.
Bob worked as a SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) at Overdrive Interactive and he would often give me tips to pass on to our web designer to improve the searchability of this website, always with a kind nudge, not a, ‘why aren’t you already doing it this way?’
Bob was a great lover of cats, which may explain his dedication to Chlotrudis, and his beloved cats are being fostered by PAWS Wakefield. A donation to them or @MspcaAngell in honor of Bob would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your years of support and friendship, Bob, you will be missed.
