Julie says: “Documentary about Bjorn Andresen and the effects of fame thrust upon him when he was cast in Luchino Visconti’s 1971 film Death In Venice Story at just 15. His past and present are more interesting than one might imagine. Ultimately it’s a sad but interesting story. However the movie seemed too long.  3.5 cats

Beth C. says: “Directed by Kristina Lindström and Kristian Petri, this film has so many remarkable qualities. The cinematography is stunning, and the visual design of the film is very creative. The film is a documentary about Björn Andresen, who was a 14 year old child in Lucino Visconti’s DEATH IN VENICE. The director proclaimed Björn’s character, Tadzio was the world’s most beautiful boy. The film has excellent footage of the young actor along with some interesting narratives. Although this isn’t the key feature/theme of the film, it is worth mentioning that Visconti argues up and down there is nothing sexual about his (their) fixation with Björn; it’s clear that the boy has become a sexual object for older men. Andresen grows up to be a troubled person, but the film also features his character strengths. The film’s direction is a bit slow, even for me, which means it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. 4.5 cats
