Philip says: “LEGALLY BLONDE is my pass. It’s my one ridiculously pulpy Hollywood comedy I get to swoon over without any flack from friends or family. We all deserve one pass and LEGALLY BLONDE is mine. What starts out as a vapid girl tries to win boy back Rom-Com quickly morphs into a feminism call to arms while maintaining it’s pink (literally), pop, picture postcard, perfect prism of pulp. Starring Reese Witherspoon in a career defining role as the princess of pink, Elle Woods. And featuring Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, Jennifer Coolidge, Holland Taylor, Ali Larter, Jessica Cauffiel, Alanna Ubach, Oz Perkins, Linda Cardellini, Bruce Thomas, Meredith Scott Lynn, and Raquel Welch. LEGALLY BLONDE is a feminist manifesto wrapped up in fluff. There’s no beating anyone over the head. Elle overcomes her ditzy blonde label placed on her by the world and she wins. That’s the message. Someone can be silly, fun, giddy, pop culture-y and still be smart enough to excel in Harvard’s Law School. I wonder how many Elle’s made a right-hand turn to law school when the film came out in 2001. They would be practicing law for just about 15 years now. Inspiring, a wake-up call, and just plain damn fun. Oh and Bruiser‘s just about the cutest Chihuahua next to my Daisy. 5 cats
