Diane says: “Mamet’s play directed by Mantegna. Too static for me to say it’s great, but great for character studies. Excellent acting. Mamet’s younger brother plays the grad student shipping out as a crew member on a cargo ship plying the Great Lakes. (‘You ever work salt?’ one crew member says to him.) He’s the mirror for the older crew members to see their youth, their dreams. I was moved by the relationship between the grad student and the crew member he gets closest to. A nice piece to ponder later….”
