Thom says: “If this wasn’t the worst film entered at TIFF 2009 I certainly wouldn’t want to see what was. This seriously is one of the worst disappointments of my entire life. Korine’s previous film MISTER LONELY was my #1 film of 2008 so I approached this film with incredible excitement. Then to be so totally shocked at what was really trash I knew I’d have nightmares for months afterwards. A group of redneck types with scary, old people masks go around in unrelated scenes doing despicable, craven acts that are meant to repel. There are people singing ridiculously horrible songs that add nothing to the general hideousness of the proceedings. It’s supposed to be both horrific and funny at the same time but fails miserably on all counts. If I were a frustrated, sexed-up teen I might think this was groovy but as it stands I weep for the depths that this one-time promising director has sunk to. Avoid at all costs. 1 cat“
