The volcano island was a tourist attraction and 40 people were unwittingly visiting when it erupted violently, resulting in many casualties. The doc’s title is the worst thing about it. The film is more grueling, more riveting, and more inspiring than I could have imagined. A team has assembled cell phone video, interviews, new aerial shots, etc. The experience of the 3-minute eruption had lasting physical and traumatic effects, for survivors and rescuers. This story of deep tragedy manages to end on a Mr. Rogers note: look for the helpers.
