Thom says: “I had high expectations from this film as director Webb was responsible for one of the better indie films of 2009 in (500) DAYS OF SUMMER, & the film has an outstanding cast but the mediocre script & lack of connection between cast members makes for a lackluster coming-of-age story set in New York. It probably didn’t help that I’ve seen this same story in one guise or another at least 5o times. Here Thomas (Turner) has just graduated from college and moves out of his parents luxury pad into a fixer-upper on the Lower East Side. On a night out with (girl)friend Barbara (Doung) he spies his high-profile publisher dad (Brosnan) smooching with a beautiful woman not his mother. He begins stalking her and ends up talking to and starting an affair with her. Like whoop-de-do!! Unfortunately, while there are some individual scenes that shine the story is hackneyed and trite, and no one comes across as believable. Beckinsale manages best as the dual mistress but her character is deluded and silly. Brosnan & Nixon (playing his put-upon wife) have zilch chemistry & Brosnan seems to have wandered i n from another set.”
