“Taymor plays with this option by having the characters actually interact with each other on an eternal bus ride Gloria takes throughout her life. There are also two fantasy sequences with Taymor’s signature all over them. I liked the multiple actresses intermingling. I felt the fantasy sequences distracted from the story which I craved. The real pay attention moments in the film came from discovering Gloria’s roots and witnessing Gloria’s career accomplishments. Although I’m not a big fan of biopics, I enjoyed The Glorias because of I am a huge fan of Steinem. The film was based on her book, My Life on the Road. The movie takes you out of your own head and troubles and plants your attention at the seat of one of our greatest activists. 3.5 cats.
