Michael says: “Sadly, despite some strong performances by Ryan Reynolds, Scott Speedman, and Mireille Enos, Egoyan’s latest film THE CAPTIVE, became the first of his films to disappoint me. Billed as a psychological thriller, had it stayed in that realm it would have been great, as much of the first half of the film is… but when it veers too much into an actual thriller, you are left scratching your head and asking, ‘Really, Atom? What are you thinking?’ Cinematography also gets top marks, but the screenplay needed lots of work. 2.5 cats“
