Michael says: “This is a fun comedy about the creative team of a Palestinian soap opera. Salam gets a job on the set of this television show which is run by his Uncle.. He’s hired because he’s fluent in Hebrew and can help out with the language on the hit soap, “Tel Aviv on Fire.” When detained at a checkpoint crossing between Palestinian and Israeli territory, Salam explains that he is a writer on this show, which is popular with both cultures. The soldier in charge, Assi, knows the show as his wife loves it, and gives Salam’s some suggestions on how the story should move forward, particularly around the central love story between Rachel, a Palestinian spy) and Yehuda, an Israeli General. Salam soon finds himself head writer of the show, but caught in a difficult bind between the Assi, the show’s backers, the devoted audience, and his own, slowly developing sense of the best way to address a volatile situation.
