Chris says: “This warped but warm and loving gay-not-gay rom-com is a strong feature debut for director/writer/actor James Sweeney. Referencing Gilmore Girls in the first fifteen minutes reveals his core aesthetic, but he both conceives of and (with his cast) delivers the rapid-fire dialogue superbly without it coming off as secondhand. Tracie Thoms is an absolute trip as a therapist, while Sweeney and his co-star Katie Findlay (who comes off like a younger Lizzy Caplan) are great together. 4 cats
