Jeff says: “This was a hoot, with the always reliable Mads Mikkelson playing a former military man babysitting a mathematician and his two geek friends as they map out the plot that murdered his wife and take on the gang responsible, a surprisingly lighthearted revenge thriller parody. It won’t get any nominations, but it was a lot of fun.”

“Another one for the Mads Mikkelsen fans! A military man (Mads) is called home to care for his teen daughter after his wife dies in a train ‘accident.’ With the help of three or four new friends, including a disabled probability expert and a hacker with Asperger’s, he seeks to get revenge. How? One of the hacker friends suggests draining the bad guys’ bank accounts by signing them up for automatically-renewing memberships. But Dad intends something a little more punitive.
“The friends are kind of like the Marx Brothers. Although their own crimes have leaned more toward the cyber side, you can tell they are all in with more dramatic misdeeds when one says, ‘If we don’t report it, we at least have to get rid of the body.’
“RIDERS is fast-moving, extremely violent, and heartwarming. Definitely a weird tone. And of course themes of grief and the meaning of life. Since it’s all about people helping people, I’ll likely nom it for Best Ensemble. 4 cats.”
