Thom says: “For shame on the movie’s producers inability to get this released in theaters, especially because super-talented Cillian Murphy deserves all sorts of awards for his spectacular work here. Yes, it’s reminiscent of Jeremy Iron’s work in David Cronenberg’s brilliant DEAD RINGERS, but here Murphy plays both a man and his wife (or so he thinks). That no one in the story recognizes that it is the same person is totally due to Murphy’s grand performance(s). The film is so atmospheric and off-kilter that the viewer hangs on every sequence. Not much happens in the narrative other than a scattering of remarkable surprises but close attention is gladly given to this early-Polanski-like treasure. Special notice might be given to Ellen Page, a favorite of Chlotrudis members. It’s in this moody work where she finally breaks out in a character unlike anything she’s done before. Sarandon aces her role as a nosy nuisance. But it’s Murphy that is unforgettable. 5 cats”
