Thom says: “According to items I’ve been reading Ed Pincus is considered a seminal documentary film director, even so far as being called the Father of First-person Non-fiction Film. This biographical entry was made during the last period of Pincus’ life on Earth as he had a terminal disease while making this with collaborator Small. Unfortunately I’ve never seen any of Pincus’ incredibly limited output (5 films in 43 years) and I really question his overall input. This film certainly humanizes him while dragging in baggage, like his wife Jane getting all hot & bothered with the time Ed is spending with Lucia working on the film. Someone desperately needed to tell her that jealousy is self-love. Your husband is dying, for Christ’s sake. But finally neither Pincus’ work or his disparate life held much interest for me. 1.5 cats”
