Laura says: “Taken from a story idea by Bono and directed by Wim Wenders, THE MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL is really a mess of a movie. The cast includes Mel Gibson as an FBI man hired by a billionaire to investigate the death of his son Izzy (Tim Roth) at the LA flophouse Million Dollar Hotel. Jeremy Davies’ Tom Tom, a simpleton who was Izzy’s best friend. Milla J. is Eloise, another troubled soul whom Tom Tom is infatuated with. Other hotel denizens include Peter Stormare, Gloria Stuart, Bud Cort, Jimmy Smits, and Amanda Plummer. I wanted to flee the room each time Stormare was on screen in what may be the most annoying performance (he does a John Lennon impersonation and claims he was a member of ‘The Beatles’) I have ever seen. Milla and Davies began to grate as well. Nice to see Bud Cort, but the rest were pretty superfluous – Gibson and Davies’ scenes (plus the ‘mystery’ which really wasn’t) kept me from turning this one off.” 1 cat
