Michael says: “I just enjoyed an odd little movie called MATCH written and directed by Stephen Belber (who wrote Richard Linklater’s TAPE). It stars Patrick Stewart, as a famed ballet dancer and choreographer, who now lives a solitary existence teaching dance and knitting sweaters. A young couple, played by Matthew Lillard and Carla Gugino, enter and disrupt his life in ways that shock both his character, and possibly the audience, and threaten to tear all three lives apart. This moving drama about the choices we make in life, and regrets we may have, starts off somewhat oddly, with Stewart’s broad interpretation of the character slightly off-putting, but as revelations occur, the acting and writing really come together, and while there will be nothing truly surprising to emerge, the emotional points are real, and very effective. 4 cats”
