Thom says: “This historical epic was originally a project for the great Chilean director Raoul Ruiz and was actually in pre-production when Ruiz passed away. The project was then handed to long-time Ruiz collaborator and wife Sarmiento. The film concerns itself with Napoleon’s attempt to conquer Portugal in 1810. The cast of characters is rather intimidating as the script explores the degradation of war from the points-of-view of soldiers, the aristocracy, common folk, revolutionaries, renegades, & others. The episodic nature of the film works in its favor and I was dreadfully remiss in my historical knowledge of the events, and I love to learn. Honeypot Huppert was only in one scene. 4 cats”
