Thom says: “This is director Buch’s 1st film and there’s a lot of oomph to the production that mostly works. Ruben is a young, gay. French Jew living in Finland with his Finnish partner, Teemu. He works as a postman and after an altercation with an old man who he’s trying to deliver a large sum of money to, when the senior citizen collapses after trying to give the money to Ruben. He flees with the money but Teemu is horrified and orders Ruben out of the house. He arrives back in Paris just in time for Passover where Maura camps it up as his doting Jewish mom. Then there’s the hilarious Monseigneur from his past that won’t take no for an answer. Finally Teemu realizes his mistake and arrives in Paris to muddle up the wacky plot. It rolls along at a hectic pace and while not quite hitting the farcical level it still is good, clean, fun. 4 cats
