Barbara says: “Watching TYSON and LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL within a day of each other was an interesting experience.  The one attribute that the two subjects seem to share is self awareness although Tyson came by his after just about ruining his life.

“TYSON jumps between actual fight footage, TV interviews regarding the more sordid aspects of his life and actual interviews with Mike Tyson at 40 years of age.  Like the character or not, it makes you think about the sacrifices and the vultures associated with the boxing world.  4 cats

Thom says: “First off, I have absolutely no use for boxing at all. I’ve never understood why anyone would want to brutalize anyone else, especially for sport. From the press I’d formed a terrible vision of Tyson: rape, abuse, brutality, conceit, unapologetic, vile, homophobic, mean-spirited. So what made me like this film about the famous bully? The film was beautifully shot and edited and having Tyson talk throughout the film led to a strange, scary approach to his life, much of what I’d never considered. The man was driven, intelligent, hard-working, and loyal, all qualities which I usually admire. Even admitting that director Toback is a friend he nevertheless brought out a side to the faded boxer that seemed almost human and certainly interesting. 3 1/2 cats
