Beth Ca says: “I saw this film at the Provincetown Film Festival this summer and loved it. It’s a spectacular film, especially with the editing and visual design (it is winning awards for editing, and other categories). The film uses some nifty video of the geometric physics of his serve, which was fabulous. The film was narrated from the perspective of cameraman Gil De Karmadec, and uses footage taken over 5years when he filmed McEnroe in Paris. It’s a compelling thesis on the mind of McEnroe. One statement I agreed with is that in most athletes, the loss of control over one’s anger would be detrimental to their performance; yet, it seems to be a driving force for McEnroe, and does not necessarily affect his game adversely. After the film, one other viewer said, “That film. It was really strange.” And, I would venture to guess it wasn’t meant as a compliment. I did agree it was strange, but I thought to myself, ‘Yes! Wasn’t it awesome!’ 5 cats“
