Diane says: “I went back to watch JOCKEY, the 2021 movie by Clint Bentley (TRAIN DREAMS). The sunset of a jockey’s life coincides with meeting a son he didn’t know he had. (Bentley’s father was a jockey.)

“JOCKEY is a quiet, interior film. In some scenes, dialogue moves between being spoken by the actors and playing over shots of the actors not speaking. The effect is to satisfyingly deepen the emotional value. The camera makes the most of pre-dawn training and sparks rising around evening bonfires. Beautiful muted perfs by Clifton Collins, Jr., Molly Parker, and Moises Arias. If JOCKEY had come out this year, I’d def nom it for ensemble or acting categories. Highly recommended.”
