Thom says:  “The Duplass brothers continue to improve as filmmakers; from THE PUFFY CHAIR to BAGHEAD to CYRUS they’ve improved. This is a mostly successful independent comedy that has a good attitude and a lot of laughs. Jeff (Segel, also memorable in BAD TEACHER) does indeed live at home and is a major slacker although still very appealing in a nonchalant way. His brother has a successful car dealership but is having major marriage problems. His mother (Sarandon, in top form) has a secret admirer at work. Jeff is a numerology freak and as he sets off to help his mother with an errand and his brother out to prove his wife’s adultery he’s ever-mindful of the numerology sequence that’s bound to change his life. Nothing profound is revealed but it makes for a very entertaining time at the cinema. The Duplass boys have raised their screenplay talents considerably and it’s a pleasure to see. 4 cats

Diane says: “Not the best of the Duplass Bros. Although I did miss the first ten minutes (aargh, sis had to recap). Jeff is a grown-up who’s still in his dopey, do-nothing phase. One day in the life…brings a lot of happy endings to the lives of his mother, brother, and strangers. Dialogue not as discomfitingly realistic as BAGHEAD, and camerawork not as fun. Lots of laughs, though, until everything turns sweet. 3 cats
