Diane says: “IRON LADY has been disparaged for giving an uncritical view of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s government. True, true! But we already have that down. I went to see IRON LADY for a portrayal of a woman with Alzheimer’s, and I got a poignant love story to boot. Jim Broadbent does another wonderful turn as a patient and winsome husband (IRIS, ANOTHER YEAR). I love that guy as a romantic lead. Meryl Streep -is- Maggie Thatcher (as the man who intones over the trailers would say), although my friend and I both noticed bits of Jula Child creeping in. Yes, IRON LADY is worthy of an O—- for makeup, but we mustn’t take Meryl Streep for granted!
“I had low expectations and no complaints. 3 1/2 cats”
