Diane says: “This docu about former gang members who work as peacemakers in Chicago is inspirational and sobering. The film follows three violence ‘interrupters’ who work for CeaseFire over the course of a year. They’re very different from each other in background and style, but they all manage a bit of the chaplain role, which I admire.
“The founder of CeaseFire is an epidemiologist who sees violence as a contagious disease. It’s what many Chicago kids have come to expect as their ’cause of death.’ How did the filmmakers ever get the people of these neighborhoods to let them film them freely? 5 cats.”
